Powerglide #19 Cover

At the risk of sounding pompous, here is some news I'd like to share, since I'm pretty excited about it.

French Magazine Powerglide chose my car for their cover of issue number 19.

For this shoot I suggested to meet at my house in Hollywood instead of the usual, my shop in Burbank CA.
Yes, at my shop there is more to look at, cool parts, unfinished projects, etc, but I was simply running out of ideas on where to shoot, within the immediate area of my shop that didnt look familiar to magazine readers.
So, we decided to shoot the whole thing, right in front of my house

Many thank to Etienne Butterlin, editor and photographer for making this happen.

I'll post the whole article, which looks pretty damn cool, after the magazines October 10th release date.

PS: Powerglide #20 is supposed to feature my 1950 Ford shoebox, shot by Swiss photographer Marc Wöltinger, keep your eyes peeled for that.

Cutting the floor

I started work on my 1936 Ford 3 window coupe. The first thing that had to go, was the rusted out floor. With little effort and a grinder, the floor is now an art object hanging on the wall in my shop.
More progress to follow.

Mad Fabricators 6 wild schenanigans

I've been asked before to participate in other car themed movies/DVD, but I've always gracefully declined the offers, until my friend Piero DeLuca asked me to be part in the latest Mad Fabricators installment number 6.
After having done some driving scenes and interviews month ago, with my 31 coupe, it was time to shoot the epic brainchild of Piero's, the downtown Los Angeles nightshot. Seven cars would be driven across the 4th street bridge, 3rd street tunnel and some crazy underground street where oval portholes offer the only glimpse of the night sky, vaguely familiar from the movie "The Soloist" with Robert Downey Jr and Jamie Foxx.

Underground was where things got wild, homeless onlookers witnessed a seven car drag race, with Tim Sutton and Brad Masterson leading the pack and the rest of us following, peeling out and burning rubber. It was great fun and I sure hope it translates to DVD.

Thanks to all the guys that were there that night, it was fun. Surprisingly no arrests were made.

Here are some crappy pics from that night, September 4th 2011

Smugmug and my photography

Art is in the eye of the beholder, we all know that but I would never call my shit art, thats for others to decide. I however dabble in photography, I've done many features and articles over the years, for various car magazines, even made some ok money doing it, but first and foremost I dig having a creative outlet that doesnt involve powertools and heavy labor.
Here are some of my meager attempts to be artsi through photography.

Another cover

I've neglected this little blog for quite some time. Here is another, some might say, bragging post. Bottom line is, my little 50 Ford custom shoebox got it's first cover, on European Rolls & Pleats magazine coming out in September 2011.
